The Department of Japanese Language and Literature (the “Japanese Department” for short) was established in 2000. It consistently sticks to these characteristics: international, scientific research-orientation combined with practical application, recruitment of teachers of native Japanese speaker on a certain scale, informationised educational characteristic of teaching and scientific research. The Department consists of 12 teachers, including 3 overseas teachers, 2 professors (a doctoral supervisor and a ChuTian scholar, an award for high-caliber scholars in Hubei), 2 associate professors. It has undertaken a number of research projects at national, provincial and collegial levels, published more than 80 academic papers and 20 monographs or translated books. The Department has almost 50,000 original Japanese academic books and reference materials, and has established international exchange relation with many Japanese universities. During recent years, the employment rate for undergraduates and graduate students has always come out top in CCNU, and the rates of exchange students for graduate students and undergraduates run as high as 100% and 48% respectively. |
